Established in Montalivet in the Aquitaine region for over 60 years, CHM welcomes you to the sandy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. The campsite is set in a 200-hectare forest of maritime pine, mimosa and heather. To the delight of nature lovers, part of it is located within the boundaries of ONF (national forestry office) forestland that has intentionally been kept wild. The site has direct access to one and a half miles of naturist beaches offering wide-open spaces and full freedom.

At "Monta", as campsite regulars tend to call it, family-oriented naturism has been ongoing for four generations, creating that special, unique atmosphere that our holidaymakers love so much. What people are looking for when they come to CHM is above all the lifestyle shared between experienced and first-time naturists.

When you first come here you are likely to be surprised by just how big the place is, with its 3000-plus pitches. Take a stroll or a bike ride to discover the various parts of the Village, each with its own distinct feel. But don’t worry about getting lost – there will always be a kindly soul on hand to point you in the right direction. That’s another facet of the naturist spirit at CHM.

At CHM, naturist holidays are distinctly “à la carte”. You can choose to relax in the peace and quiet of your pitch, or alternatively take part in the numerous activities for adults and kids. The Crafts Village offers plenty of workshops for budding artists to express themselves. Sport and entertainment also feature largely in life at CHM, as evidenced by the football, basketball, tennis and handball facilities. You will also find sporting events that only CHM can offer, such as the Berbères race on the beach or the Naturolympiades for all the family. And after expending all that energy, why not relax at the spa facilities with a jacuzzi or a nice massage?

Plenty of other surprises await you at CHM, so come and join us for unforgettable naturist holidays!

Reception

AccueilThe CHM team is on hand to welcome you every day from April to November. Reception opening times vary according to the period of the season. If you get here a little late (after the office has closed), not to worry: the keys to your accommodation will be available at Security, at the entrance to the campsite.

Info Point

Point_infoThroughout July and August an Info Point is at your disposal next to Reception. It provides lots of information about life at the campsite. You can also buy Wi-Fi cards and get a map of the campsite and the activity guide.

Shopping Centre & Cash-point

LaverieThere is no need to leave CHM to do your shopping or get a bite to eat. The Shopping Centre and its 21 retail outlets offer a wide range of goods. There’s something for everyone: 2 grocery stores, an organic food shop, a delicatessen, a bakery, a butcher’s shop, a fishmonger’s, 5 restaurants including a pizzeria, a restaurant specialised in Moroccan dishes and a crêpe restaurant, a takeaway food outlet, a sandwich shop, a tapas bar, a wine merchant’s, an ironmonger’s/bazaar, a home decoration shop, a newsagent, a laundry, a hairdresser, and a bicycle hire and repair shop. An ATM is also on hand for cash withdrawals.

Security

SécuritéAt CHM your safety is essential to us, so we ask you to wear your “Pass” permanently so that we can identify you and guide excessively adventurous youngsters back to their pitch. The “Québecs”, who can be identified by their red T-shirts and who ride around on bikes, have the job of ensuring that everyone enjoys a peaceful time at the site. They can also lead you to your pitch when you first arrive and, if necessary, work on sand clearing. Our emergency stations all have first-aid kits.

Post

Distribution_courrierKeep in contact with your friends and relatives. A postal service is in place in low season at Reception and the Shopping Centre and in peak season from 11.30 to 13.30. The post is picked up every day of the week. You can buy stamps at the grocery store.

Computer Room

CyberAt Reception there is a Computer Room with a dozen computers that anyone can use. There is a charge for an internet connection, with several options possible: 30 min, 60 min and 120 min. If the area where your pitch is located has Wi-Fi coverage, then you can opt for a Wi-Fi package.

Showers and toilets

Les_sanitairesCHM has around a hundred sanitary units dotted all over the site. Most of them have been fully refurbished, and some have solar-powered hot water. In peak season they are cleaned several times a day. In line with the naturist concept, the showers are open to their immediate surroundings.

Collective barbecues

Barbecues_collectifsCollective barbecues and picnic tables are at your disposal at the Shopping Centre. They are convivial places to meet others: each barbecue is large enough for you to share with other holidaymakers.

Cots and high chairs

Chaise_bébéHigh chairs, baby bath, bottle warmers and cots are available at Reception and can be used free of charge throughout your stay. Remember to reserve them before you arrive.

A naturist beach stretching as far as the eye can see

Une_plage_à_perte_de_vueCHM has two entry points to its naturist beaches offering two different atmospheres: relaxation at the first, and sporting events including beach volleyball competitions at the second. Each beach has its own supervised swimming area with lifeguards. You’ll love the bracing ocean waves – they will lift your spirits, boost your energy levels and make sure you get a good night’s sleep. There’s nothing better than to live naked in direct contact with the Atlantic Ocean!

Children’s entertainment

Animations_enfantsAt CHM, the child is king. Everything is done for them to have fun during their stay. The Mini-Club for kids aged 3 to 5 offers creative, artistic and entertaining activities. The Club Ecureuil is a chalet on stilts that welcomes 6 to 10-year-olds. The sports school is a big hit among young holidaymakers. They learn lots of things there, for example the rules and techniques of a sport and the principle of respect for opponents, and can take part in matches with the emphasis always on having a good time. Children’s entertainment also includes shows, kids’ discos and many other surprises!

Surfing school

Ecole_surfIf you’ve always dreamed of learning how to surf, now is the time with Stéphane, our State-qualified instructor. Whatever your age, you can learn the techniques of this sport in individual lessons or group courses. All the equipment is loaned to you, so all you have to do is turn up. You’ll see, it’s great fun!

Water Park

Parc_aquatiqueCHM’s flagship attraction, the Water Park will delight the whole family. Infants can get to grips with water under the “water mushroom” in the paddling pool, while the braver among you can slither at breakneck speed down one of the four slides. Thrills guaranteed!

Initiation into scuba diving

Initiation_plongéeIn peak season you can take scuba diving lessons in full safety at the Water Park. Eric, our qualified instructor, will take people aged over eight on their diving “baptism” and give them 1st-level training. Discover the pleasure of weightlessness and the silence of the underwater world…

Swimming pool

Piscine1The 25-m heated pool is for swimmers and is divided into several swimming lanes. Free aquagym lessons are given each morning. Thanks to the pool’s new removable roof, you can swim in the pre-season and low season too. You can also pay for swimming lessons.

Crafts and cultural activities

Animations-artisanalesThe Crafts Village offers a remarkable variety of workshops such as glass engraving, painting on silk, cotton or porcelain, mosaics, charcoal sketching of nudes, sculpting and model-making… Personal development is also encouraged through physical movement, with beginner or advanced classes in dance or music. If you’re after a bit of peace and quiet, our library has 20,000 books, so you are bound to find something to read during your stay. And in the evening, you can take part in conferences or relax watching a film at “Oboulaba”, our outdoor cinema.

Sports activities

Sport has always been an important feature of naturist life. The Robert Poulain Centre has plenty of sports facilities such as a synthetic football pitch, 6 tennis courts, a forecourt with 5 table tennis tables, and basketball, volleyball and handball courts. Gym, stretching and muscle toning sessions will also help keep you fit. On a quieter note, yoga sessions are held in a forest clearing where you can experience peace and serenity in communion with nature. Or why not try your hand at archery at the forest’s edge?

Spa for your well-being

Les_ThermesA centre dedicated to wellness, the Spa plunges you into a world of wonderful sensations. After a day at the beach, what could be more pleasurable than a nice massage and direct contact with the spa’s hot water and bubbles? Our therapists and beauticians offer a series of treatments to regenerate your body.

Evening events

If you still have a bit of energy at the end of the day, come to one of the many establishments at the Shopping Centre and by the Water Park to dance, sing, watch concerts, meet people, chat and have a drink!

Montalivet Market

Marché_VendaysThis is a must for holidaymakers at the CHM Naturist Centre: Montalivet market is held in the nearby village every day from May to September, from 8 am to 2 pm. Expect to see lots of people at the market. More than 200 traders sell clothing, crafts and food. Particularly popular among holidaymakers are the oysters washed down with a glass of fine local wine.

The Wine Route

Route_des_vinsThe Médoc area is home to the most prestigious Grand Cru Classé and Cru Bourgeois wine estates in the Bordeaux region. Just a few miles from CHM you will find the start of the Wine Route which runs through numerous wine areas including the famous villages of Saint-Emilion, Pauillac and Saint Estèphe, with world-renowned châteaux such as Château Yquem, Château Mouton Rothschild and Château Lagrange. If you’re a wine-lover, take the time to discover this route with a driver.

Cycling tracks

Piste_cyclableStarting from CHM, there are countless cycling tracks for you to discover the region in an active, enjoyable manner. The tracks are relatively flat and run alongside the coastal beaches and through the Médoc forestland and, if you’re fit enough, will take you as far as Hourtin Lake, Carcans or Lacanau.

Bordeaux

BordeauxOn your list of essential excursions you must include a visit to Bordeaux, the “Pearl of Aquitaine”. You’ll need a whole day because the city is 50 miles from CHM. But it’s well worth the trip. In this ancient city you will discover the famous Place de la Bourse, Opera, Allées de Tourny, Place des Quinconces and countless other historic monuments. You can enjoy a stroll along the redeveloped quaysides by the River Garonne. Bordeaux is also a vibrant student city and there is no shortage of entertainment available!

Soulac sur Mer

Soulac_sur_Mer10 miles from CHM, the ancient village of Soulac stands on the ocean shores where you can admire magnificent villas with neo-colonial façades dating back to the late 19th century. Soulac became famous when bathing in the sea first became fashionable. Stop off to do a bit of shopping at the indoor market.

Hourtin Lake

Lac_d'Hourtin20 miles from CHM you will come across Hourtin Lake, one of France’s largest natural freshwater lakes. Lying parallel to the ocean, it is 12 miles long and 3 miles wide. It is ideal for long walks around its shores and for swimming. Its size also makes it perfect for sailing and motor boating. Managed by the National Forestry Office, it is listed as a nature reserve.

Blaye Citadel

Citadelle_de_BlayeBuilt between 1686 and 1689 by the celebrated architect Vauban, Blaye Citadel overlooks the Gironde Estuary. This fort standing on a rock was designed to defend Bordeaux against attacks by English and Dutch enemy ships. Perfectly preserved, it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Cordouan Lighthouse

Phare-de_CordouanBuilt in 1611, the 37m-high Cordouan Lighthouse is the last open-sea lighthouse that can still be visited by the public. The visit starts at Le Verdon-sur-Mer, 20 miles from CHM, by boat. Its accessibility depends on the weather conditions and the tide. To get to the top you will need to climb 311 steps, but once you’re up there, the view is stunning.

Royan

RoyanThe town of Royan will surprise you by the rich variety of its amazing villas, each one trying to outdo the others in terms of originality and fantasy. You should also visit Royan Museum which presents the town from ancient times to the present day. Contact Royan Tourist Office (tel.: 05 46 23 00 00) which regularly organises guided tours.

La Palmyre Zoo

Zoo_PalmyreTo get to La Palmyre Zoo you have to take the ferry from Le Verdon to Royan. The zoo is an extraordinary site set in a pine forest covering 18 hectares, where you can observe more than 115 species of birds, reptiles and mammals, for a total of more than 1600 animals.

Pitches for the pleasure of camping

At the CHM, we like good traditional camping in vast natural spaces. In a well-tended wooded park all through the year, you will discover shaded or sunny pitches amid pinewood trees, sheltered or at the top of the dunes to set up your tent or install your caravan.

Our pitches are ranked in 4 categories; they are for small and large caravans and tents on pitches with a surface varying from 80 m² to 180 m², with or without electricity.

Each quarter with its own distinct atmosphere

The 680 pitches of the campsite are split over 6 quarters: Ajoncs, Sables, Pins, Ecureuils, Bruyère and La Lande and each and everyone offers a different atmosphere. Choose the one that suits you best, because at the CHM distances from one interest centre to another can sometimes be quite far.

The Ajoncs quarter is close to the beach partly in the ONF (National forests office) zone. Needless saying that the natural and the wild side delight campers seeking authenticity; they will simply love this place. Here, most of the pitches have no electricity.

The caravan owners and campers with large tents will prefer hard standing, stable and flat pitches that are rather to be found in the Ecureuils quarter, Bruyère and La Lande.

The quarter of La Lande situated between the Commercial Centre and the Aquatic Park is the liveliest. The Bruyère quarter, is situated close to the Commercial Centre and the Robert Poulain area, where the main cultural and sporting events are organised.

The Ecureuils area which is very near the Bruyère is the quietest and you will be staying on pitches amid residents. Looking for rest and sunshine, choose the Pins area, situated close to the archery area and on the edge of the untouched pine forest.

Power hook-up sockets

All our electric terminals are equipped with CE sockets conform to the European norms.
Standard extension cords can’t be used with this socket. An adaptor is necessary. You can rent and buy these at the CHM.

Ecological sanitary facilities

Most of the sanitary blocks are solar energy powered; they can be found close to your pitch in each and every campsite sector. Comfortable and luminous, they have baby changing facilities, shared bathrooms and reserved spaces for disabled people. They are cleaned and controlled several times a day.

Should you need any help, do not hesitate to contact us, together we’ll find the pitch that best meets your expectations.
